When using ladders and stepladders, there are a number of significant risks to consider. Risks are drastically minimised when you ensure that you inspect your ladders before use. It is possible that there are minor or major faults with the equipment which could cause injuries or fatalities. This course will explain how you should go about inspecting your ladders and what to do if you notice any faults.
Duration: This is a half day course.
Through the combination of both theory and practical teaching, you will learn about the mandatory procedures, you need to carry out in order to thoroughly inspect a ladder and stepladder. You will learn how to identify, recognise, and record faults with the equipment.
Once successfully completing the course, the aim is to be able to use both ladders and stepladders in a safe and appropriate way. It will also ensure that you are working in adherence with legislation.
It is important to be thorough and follow all of the appropriate procedures when inspecting ladders and stepladders. This course will give you a solid overview covering the following:
- Legislation and regulations affecting work at height
- Legal requirements and guidance
- Initial inspection
- Asset register
- Inspection procedures
- Inspection documentation
- Manufacturing techniques
- Maintenance / repairs
The course will conclude with both theory and practical assessment, ensuring that you have taken in all of the information provided.
Who Should Attend This Course?
This course is targeted at those who manage and supervise sites that use ladders and stepladders. They are required to have the knowledge to both use and be able to inspect this equipment, ensuring the safety of their staff.
It is also important to note that you need to attend and successfully complete the ladder and step ladder user course, before taking part in this course.
This course can only be carried out by 8 delegates at any one time.
Once you have successfully completed this course you will receive a Ladder Association – Ladder Inspection ID card and Certificate of Training.
